A comeback the Russian player secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, winning just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

It is his maiden championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface from March of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 championships at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an better serve.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first tour victory, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent defended 4 early opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
